Leather Repair Paints To Repair Colour Loss Areas

The leather repair paints or leather colourant dyes as some people refer to them as, are used to repair areas of damage on leather goods.

These leather repair paints can be used to repair leather sofas, leather car seats, leather jackets, leather shoes, leather handbags and even leather flooring.

The leather paints come in a standard range of 28 colours, but we have hundreds of thousands of shades of colours on our data base to pick from, or you can simply send in a sample of colour you require, this can even be a colour card, leather, paper, plastic or painted metal all we need is a flat surface so we can scan this with the spectrophotometer to get an exact match for you.

Semi-Aniline Leather, Pigmented Leather, Top Coated Leather, Oil & Wax Pull-Up Leather, Two-Tone, Mottled & Antique Finished Leather, Bicast leather, Vegan leather, Vinyl and faux leather, including bonded leather, can also be used to pigmented paint aniline leather if you wanted to convert an aniline leather item to a painted finish.

Leather repair paint can be used on many items, from fixing small scuff and scratches, to putting colour on bigger areas, or to fully paint a sofa or leather car interior.

As well as minor damaged areas to leather items, these leather colourants can be used to repair or restore colour fading, fading can happen for many reasons, exposure to light or heat or just general wear and tear with colour coming off the surface creating faded areas on leather items.

Leather repair paints are water-based paints, so are easy to apply and store, we advise a shelf life of 12 months for these leather colourants.

As we well as the leather items listed above that it works on, these paints will also work on equestrian leather, sneakers, football boots, leather gloves, leather hats, motorbike leathers, leather walls, leather banisters, leather table tops, in fact almost any leather item…but they are not designed to colour suede or nubuck.

Application of leather repair paints can be carried out in many ways, for speed its best applied using a spray gun, the best spray gun we have found is the Devilbiss Pro Lite S.  There is no need to thin the paints prior to spraying as we have made them at the correct constancy for application within spray guns as well as by hand. But if you wanted to do this then you can add a lacquer to thin then but no more than 10% should be added to the leather repair paints.

Application of leather paints can be carried out with a sponge, this is applied with a stippling motion, we would advise this type of application for car seats, sofas and large items.

Small items like leather handbags, clutch bags and purses can be applied with soft artist paint brushes, this will allow to get into fine intricate detailed areas.
